RCPA Celebrates Pathology Day By Announcing Two New Position Statements

The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA), members of the International Liaison of Pathology Presidents (ILPP) and key medical media came together on 28th May 2013 to celebrate the inaugural Pathology Day. Events took place in pathology labs around the country and beyond, embracing the celebrations. See the RCPA’s Facebook page for images of those who participated.

The RCPA also took this opportunity to hold an event at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to announce two new position statements on: the use and implementation of vitamin D testing; and a joint statement with the ILPP on new international protocols on the management and diagnosis of cancer.

RCPA Lends Expertise on the Angelina Jolie Double Mastectomy

When news broke that Angelina Jolie had undergone a preventative double mastectomy, the Chairman of the Genetics Advisory Committee at the RCPA, Professor Graeme Suthers, was on hand to explain gene mutations, BRCA1 and BRCA2.
