Cruiseco’s Second Custom-Built Ship

Work has commenced on Cruiseco’s second custom-built ship, the Cruiseco Explorer. The ship’s inaugural sailing is scheduled to depart on 21st October 2014. The 58 metre long, two decked ship will accommodate 56 guests.

Steve Lloyd, Chief Executive Officer at Cruiseco, says the new ship is a significant milestone for the cruising company.

“A year on from launching the Cruiseco Adventurer in Vietnam, I’m delighted that the construction of our second ship is already well underway. The Cruiseco Explorer will operate in Myanmar on the waters of the Irrawaddy, Upper Irrawaddy and Chindwin Rivers,” says Lloyd.

“Following 13 years operating in the cruise industry, we continue to draw on our extensive experience to ensure that the Cruiseco Explorer’s design will appeal to our customers.”

RCPA Announces Position on Lyme Disease

Today, the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) has released a new position statement on the diagnostic testing and management of Lyme disease in Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Stephen Graves, a spokesperson for the RCPA, says that as of January this year, ticks native to Australia and New Zealand are not thought to carry the Borrelia spp bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Read more online at Medical Observer.

SNP Security Officers Recognised For Bravery

SNP Security Officers, Jovan Jovanov and Mahmoud Nemra, have received Australian Security Valour Medals (ASVM) at the 2014 Australian Security Medals Foundation Charity Dinner at the Sydney Opera House.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Jovanov and Nemra were just two of five security officers around Australia to receive ASVMs in 2014. The Canberra Times speaks to Jovanov to find out more about his courageous actions.

“It is a tremendous achievement for two SNP Security Officers to receive this accolade in the same year. I am very proud of Jovan and Mahmoud and would like to congratulate them for being handpicked by the industry for their professionalism during these incidents,” said Tom Roche, Managing Director at SNP Security.

Silversea launches its latest ship, Silver Discoverer

Silversea has celebrated the launch of Silver Discoverer, the latest addition to its Expedition Fleet. The official christening took place in Singapore on 26 March, before Silver Discoverer embarked on her inaugural voyage from Broome, Western Australia on 2 April, 2014.

For 10 days, this beautiful ship explores the Kimberley Coast and Indonesia’s Leti Island, before concluding her voyage in Darwin. Read more about the launch of Silver Discoverer at The Sydney Morning Herald.
